The most advanced operation equipment is available and was brought from Germany,America.

  • Cystoscopy & Ureteroscopy : Operation procedure that lets a urologist view the inside of the bladder and urethra in detail.
  • Resectoscope (T.U.R.P) : Operate Prostate gland without cut on stomach carry out the operation without blood flow.
  • Urethrotomy : surgical technique for closed bladder outlet obstruction creates a widening of the urethra using a special instrument
  • Ureteroscopy : Ureteroscopy involves the use of a small flexible or rigid device called a ureteroscope to directly see and treat stones.
  • Nephroscope : operating the inner parts by viewing the inside of the kidney.
  • Ultrasonic lithotripsy : Technique is the destruction of kidney stones with shock waves formed by bursts of focused ultrasound without operating.

Cystometry Uroflowmetry : It is a clinical diagnostic procedure used to evaluate bladder function. Specifically, it measures contractile force of the bladder when voiding.

  • HO-YAG laser : It is used for bloodless surgery and treating cases of kidney, ureter, bladder & prostate problems.

In one of the feature of laser is related to light emulsion. For example, we induce a chemical into the body of a cancer patient. That chemical spreads over the entire body of the patient and gets settled in the areas of cancer tissues. Then, we send a argon di laser light beam of 630mm wavelength for certain period of time. These laser waves affect the area of cancer tissues. It kills the cancer cells as there undergoes a chemical reaction between them. This doesn’t affect the healthy tissues around that place.
Types of medical lasers:
The nature and effect of laser wave depends on the process of working. The first laser beam is generated using the CO2 gas as the medium. Some of the lasers are Argon laser, neodymium-yttrium aluminium garnet laser (Nd.:YAG Laser), KTP – 532 laser, Alexandrite laser. Each type of laser has its own importance.
HO: YAG LASER
The most used laser for Urological problems is YAG laser. The speciality of this laser when compared to others is that YAG laser has the capacity to evaporate the tissues. It can ablate and coagulate as well. There is no other laser that has these three features till now. It gently cuts the soft tissues similar to carbon dioxide. With the help of computer, we can adjust the laser severity and can make tiny cuts. Using, the same we can also rejoin the tissues. This doesn’t affect the healthier tissues around. So, this technique is mostly used. At present holmium YAG laser is not available in the country due to their cost. We are happy to announce that recently we imported, BLM – 1000 Vario Pulse HO: YAG laser from Haritha Hospitals. Using this instrument, we can provide treatment with no scars and no pain.
Services at our end using laser treatment:

  • Removal of stones in kidney and gall bladder
  • Removal of Strictures in gall bladder
  • Removal of tumours in kidneys
  • Evaporation for BHP reduction
  • Coagulation

Laser treatment is far better and recommended than an operation. For example, in case of Prostate surgery, laser treatment gives best results than TURP (Transurethral resection prostate). There are minute problems using laser treatment also. But, one need not worry about those problems because, these are not major.

Stones generally appear in the bladder and kidneys. If the stones are very small ,they get washed out on their own, whereas the bigger ones get stuck to the tissues or tubes and stay inside the body. Some of them gradually enlarge and result in operation. Now using laser equipment, these stones are made into pieces and made them to get out through urine. This treatment is called Lithotripsy, ESWL (Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy). Let us know more about this treatment in detail.
The operation of sensitive organs such as the kidneys and urinary tract is of difficulty and is an intensive work. In general, treatment without operation is more preferable and comfortable to anyone. It is for this reason Lithotripsy is put forward.
Lithotripsy:
The term is derived from the Greek words – Litho and Tripso, meaning “breaking (or pulverizing) stones”. The treatment is used to break the stones in kidneys and gall bladder. A special instrument is used for this treatment that generates shock waves. In general, the technical name for the treatment is ESWL – Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.
In this treatment a very expensive device is used to produce shock waves in the water with HKV Power. These waves are pointed straight towards the stones in the urinary system. The effect this waves, results in the splitting of these stones to the size of small sand particles and send them out through urination. This entire process takes about 30-40 minutes of time. The same procedure is followed to treat very big stones to small particles. 90% of the patients can get rid of the problem in just one treatment. The rest of 10%  depending on the stone and site of the stone and for those who’s stone is very large. It needs about 2-3 sittings or more for complete cure. It is just because of Lithotripsy, the number of operations reduced from 100 to 2, as the cure is provided using shock waves.
Advantages:

  • There is no need of Anaesthesia ,skin incision.
  • Also, the latest lithotripsy instruments treats with no pain(We have such surgical instruments).
  • No need to stay in hospital for days, as the treatment is completed in 2-3 hours and you can go home.
  • There is no need of any prior preparation for the treatment. A general check up and few tests are sufficient for Lithotripsy.
  • After 10 days of treatment, a review X-ray is taken and later you need not consult the doctor again and again.
  • In this treatment, there are not many complications. Sometimes, you may urinate in red colour, which has treatment and other minor treatable complications.

Many have doubt that Lithotripsy is a permanent treatment or again the stones are formed after certain period of time. The truth is that we cannot guarantee that stones will not be again formed. The accumulation of stones in gall bladder & kidney again and again does not depend on the treatment provided. It depends on the food habits, lifestyle, water intakes & hormonal disturbances. So, you have to strictly follow the diet and care to avoid formation of kidney stones again and again.
The main thing to be noted is, the treatment can be done for BP patients, Heart patients and everyone who has that problem.

Procedure:
In Lithotripsy different devices are used to produce shock waves. The core of the success and adequacy of the treatment depends on the type of waves, and the device that produce these shock waves.
In Spark gap generator is a device in which a spark plug dipped in a liquid solution is kept. It is supplied with HKV of power. (This does not give any shock to the patient). As power is generated, it produces low intensity shock waves that are directed towards the patient. Also there are devices that use piezo electric current and electromagnetism to produce shock waves. A Japanese company developed a device that produce these shock waves by bombarding subtle lead azide particles. Many laser devices also came into existence. But these are not in practice today.
The earlier results may not be trustworthy:
In the early ages of Lithotripsy practice (In the mid of 1980-82), a group of German doctors gave treatment to about 206 patients for 221 times. It is hard to believe that 99% of the patients got complete cure from the pain of stones. About 10% of patients left with minute stone particles and only 1% needed operation. The results made the impossible to possible and left the urologists awesome. The shock waves used for lithotripsy put the doctors in shock and produced unbelievable results. Soon, this technique spread over the entire world. It left as a boon for those who are afraid of operation.
Types of stones:
Lithotripsy works on what kind of stones? In urine, some additional level particles will be settled as stones. Mainly, the excess particles of calcium oxalates, phosphates, uric acid are converted into stones. Of them, the stones formed through uric acid are easily removed using lithotripsy. 85% of the people can get completely rid of the stones through this method. The particles of struvite can also be easily diagnosed (68% of people can get rid of stones through this
treatment). The stones formed through calcium oxalates can also be easily reduced (80% of people can see the results). The results of Lithotripsy are unsatisfactory only in particles of Brushite (calcium phosphate dihydrate)
Size of stones?
An important point to note! The stones of about 1cm long can easily be removed using lithotripsy. 90% of the people can get relief from these kind of stones in renal pelvis
